Hi

I've been running mediaportal for a while now and have just bought a WinTV Nova-S2 HD/PCI Satellite High Definition Tuner, I now know that running TV server is putting a strain on my old system, also I have started trying to play High Definition content on the media centre but the picture can be very jerky at times, therefore, I have decided to replace the entire system.

Before, I spend out my hard earned cash I just wanted to run this specification past you guys, the media centre will be used for watching satellite tv including High Definition broadcasts, recording TV, watching Blu Ray DVD's (when I get a blu ray player), playing High Definition MKV files, streaming radio from the Internet.

I will be running Windows XP Pro SP3 as my OS.

Below are the components I am thinking of ordering:

Motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2 690V Socket AM2 Onboard VGA 8 channel audio mATX

Processor
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 2.9GHz Energy Efficient Socket AM2 1MB L2 Cache (2x512KB) Retail Boxed Processor

Graphics Card
MSI 8600GT 256MB GDDR2 DVI HDMI TV Out PCI-E Graphics Card

RAM:
Crucial 2GB, 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-6400 memory module (CT25664AA800)

Hard Drive
Western Digital WD6400AAKS 640GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 16MB Cache - OEM

Satellite TV Card (already have this)
WinTV Nova-S2 HD/PCI Satellite High Definition Tuner DVB-S2 and DVB-S card

Please could you let me know if you think this specification will be enough to meet my needs.

Thanks in advance

Chris

I think that should be fine - see my specs (click on the link under my name) and you will see I have a similar setup - and it all works perfectly. The Graphics Card will hardware accelerate the HD and you will get a great picture.
