Hey There,

This is my first post on this great product - really enjoying using the software on my HTPC!

Apologies if this is covered before but I did do a brief search but was not sure of exact terms and were unable to find anything...

I have noticed when watching TV that the aspect ratio remains fixed throughout the entire timeshift buffer, even if you change channels...

When I used to use MCE it would flick between 16:9 and 4:3 seamlessly on adverts / shows and channels.

If i stop the timeshift buffer and start again it does pick up the correct ratio.

I did see something about a plugin but was unsure if that is what I need to resolve this problem. I am running MP1.00

Your advice would be greatly appreciated!

Jase

The ability to change aspect without View Mode Switcher can be obtained when using a decent codec like ffdshow or PowerDVD 8, that supports AR pass-on. This, off course, will only work if Freeview sends the AR signal in the TV-signal, but I'm 99,9% sure that they do that.

Using the default codec in MediaPortal will not work without addionat tools like View Mode Switcher.

Just to confirm, most Freeview/Freesat/Eurobird channels do send accurate aspect ratio information and as Pilehave says, a decent codec like PowerDVD will switch automatically.

Um how did you even get the PowerDVD9 codec working in MediaPortal? Cyberlink removed DirectShow support in 9 didn't they (and new versions of 8)

The latest version if PowerDVD won't show up for HD in config, but earlier did.

I believe the trial version works well.

If you are somewhat knowledgeable, try googling DXVA.rar ;)
