Fullscreen on secondary display? (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I am new to Mediaportal which seems like a really nice software. But if I cannot get the following problem solved it is unfortunately not very useful for me:
I am trying to get fullscreen mode to work on my secondary display (LCD TV) but with no luck. I can run Mediaportal fine on both my primary display (monitor) and on secondary (TV) as long as it's not fullscreen. But as soon as I enable fullscreen, it goes fullscreen on my monitor, although I want fullscreen on my TV.

Does anyone know how to solve this? I have an Nvidia Geforce 7900 video card, with "Dualview" enabled for Monitor+TV, running WinXP. Mediaportal version 0.2.3.0 official release.

I have searched the forums for this problem but not found anything that helped me solve this.

:D

    Can't answer, but:
    - Consider changing topic to a more describing one
    - Please give more detail - particularly MP version and if you are running SVN (nightly builds).

You did try to set this in config?

I can run Mediaportal fine on both my primary display (monitor)

In the Nvidia control panel\setup multiple monitors, you will need your TV as primary, AFAIK this is down to DirectX limitations (which MP uses).

This has always been a problem of dualview, could be different with dual Graphics cards though.

    Cheers

In MediaPortal Configuration tool, section general:
Last option should be ticked: "use screenselector to choose on which monitor MP should start"
Then you can choose monitor in section below. I don't have a dual monitor setup right now, but it should work.

I think you need to set Nvidia setting to "extended screen" or something like that (can not tell you exact words because I am not at home). Dual might mean "same as". You make monitor primary and TV secondary and select full screen in MediaPortal configuration. You select the TV as your display screen for MP at the bottom of the General list in MP Configuration (it will be defined by pixels size for the two screens). I have it working fine and I have Nvidia GeForce 6150 on my mother board.

    For What its worth....

I have my GeForce6800 set to Dual-Mode (rather than Clone Mode)

I use a thing called Multi-Res, to allow me to have differing resolution between PC Monitor and TV though I think this might be redundant now MP natively supports multiple monitors.

MP is configured (within configuration tool) to start on TV.

Computer Monitor is 4:3 TV is a 16:9 LCD connected via dvi -->HDMI.

Audio is done using Kxdriver for my Audigy2. Output via digital out from card to HOme Theatre Receiver. Analog outs connected to computer speakers. MP configured to use digital out device. Default sound device configured to analog out.

With this rig, my PC can be used to run office apps, browse the web, almost anything except games which need DirectX whilst I watch movies or listen to music via MP. PC controlled via Keyboard and mouse MP via a Streamzap remote.

    Works for me.

    Merry Christmas to all

I dunno if this helps, but I simply start MediaPortal with MediaPortal.exe /fullscreen /screen=1 you can set this commandline as default simply with a rightclick on the MP program-icon in the properies menu under shortcut and target (write in the box named "target" e.g.:
    "C:\Programme\Team MediaPorta\Mediaportal.exe" /screen=1 /fullscreen )

Of course you have to set the graphicscard such that the TV-port of the card gets screen 1 and the PC monitor gets screen 0. This is ideal for me. I have my PC in the basement and send the signal from the TV port of the graphics card through a HF-modulator to every TV in the whole house. Plus, I have a Q-Sonic 4-in-one remote which allows to access the PC in the basement through radio signal and the other IR-equipment in the living room directly.

I have my MP now running permanently (as long as the PC is running, of course) and I can still do other work with the PC at the same time while the others are watching a show through MP on the TV.

The nice thing is also that when you remotely log into the PC through VNC, you can see both screens in one wide window :)

    Thanks for wonderful support guys!

I can report that both running with command line parameters as well as checking the screenselector-checkbox in General configuration, worked to get fullscreen on TV, secondary monitor.

    Both methods now work fine!

Thanks again for all replies and help and I wish you all a Merry Christmas!
