HomeContent
(Available with MP2.2)

Finally one of the most important features is going to be introduced into MediaPortal with the upcoming version 2.2. Many thanks to @henso and @Brownard for strongly supporting the implementation.
But what is it about? Besides the normal media library view, you can also see media items according to category for quick access. The so called HomeContent is placed in the HomeScreen and smoothly slides in/out according to the focussed menu item. With info key you'll be able to switch the focus between the HomeMenu and the HomeContent.

Following categories are supported for Audio, Series, Movies, Videos, Images, Recordings:

• Latest Added
• Continue Playing
  
• Favorites
• Unplayed

Weather and News will have also HomeContent, as well TV, OnlineVideos and plugins as emulators might follow. You can directly see what is running on your favorite channels and start the program from HomeScreen!

For TV the HomeContent contains following:

• Watch TV:
  • Latest played (channels)
  • Favorite (channels)
• EPG
  • Current programs
• Schedules
  • Shows an overview of the top 5 schedules

Overworked Menu Images

The previous images were mostly from original WMC having a low resolution (162 x 91 px). Almost all images were recreated from sketch with a higher resolution (350 x 197 px) looking much better now. Here a few examples:

TV Guide Genre Colors
(Available with MP2.2)

A feature, that people know from WMC and MP1 will be available in WMC skin with next main release. You'll be optionally able to activate genre colors for the program guide. The genres can be mapped in TV-Setup as for MP1 and colors can be selected in MP2-Client. Special thanks to @henso

Update for WMC skin after long time
With MP 2.4.1 also WMC skin will support all screen resolution aspect ratios, means content is not deformed any more based on deltas to default resolution 1920x1080.
