Don't know of the product in question sam, but I'm quite sure Jet DB is know to have inferior speed over "any" other sollution

Think of SQL Server Everywhere as a very, very simple version of SQL server, rather than a better version of Jet DB (it isn't based on Jet).

And yes, I know what you mean with Jet DB - I'm planning on moving a lot of my Access-based programs to this new thing because Access is very slow in comparison.

This is all pretty new stuff BTW - I think it has the possibility to become the new non-server-based DB from MS for use in programming, especially because it is cross-hardware-platform (i.e. it runs on WM5 as well).

Anyway, there must be reasons for choosing SQL Server Express - most likely network DB server access.

    Hi,

    MySQL?

IMHO the underlying DBMS should not make a difference. It would be nice, if the user could choose. There should be no problem to use different DBMS systems, if there is a DB class which makes the connection to the systems. The SQL code should be everywhere the same. :)

    Just my two cents,
    Flip

PS: I think its a very good idea to make a "all-in-one-DB". Hopefully it will work!

To all: I think that setting up all the needed stuff in the .net 2.0 version takes a lot of time. I am currently investigating if 3.0 (the "artist" formerly known as WinFX) may help my goals. I am intending to use the LINQ style of querying which might ease the development quite a lot. I have seen from the SVN sources that there is already some development in getting MP to a next generation using XAML coding (which is also .net 3.0). In an architecture document it also contained some information about how frodo is planning to develop the app in future.

So I will try jumping onto that wagon, since it would be much better integrated and much easier to develop. (installed June CTP of .net 3.0 yesterday evening, have not tried anything yet).
