Hello, I have followed the quick start uo and set up guides and have enabled "Start NediaPortal in fullscreen mode", "Autostart MediaPortal on Windows Startup", and "Use alternative fullscreen Splashscreen" but whenever Windows starts up there is no MediaPortal startup. I'm trying to get MediaPortal to autostart when I turn on my HTPC. So, like if the power is off and then it's turned on, that it should boot straight to MediaPortal (since I have these features checked in General > Startup/Resume settings. I don't know why it doesn't start. I am using Windows 8 64Bit and have reinstalled this several times using one-click install and all defaults.

Thanks!

Might relate to a Windows 8 feature.

    Try this:
    http://dottech.org/88876/windows-8-...ocesses-to-run-automatically-at-windows-boot/

    or you can type
    shell:start
to get to the startup folder and put a shortcut in there for MP

If above doesn't work then try create a .bat file in the startup folder with the following
    Code:
    timeout /nobreak 5
    call "c:\program files (x86)\team mediaportal\mediaportal\mediaportal.exe"

Yeah those work ... I guess, what I was looking for was that I just turn on my HTPC and it boots straight to media portal -- no having to putz around with logging in or any barriers like that. Just to have it boot into MediaPortal right away... Otherwise it is really cumbersome to even use MediaPortal: I have to log in, wait for all the Windows garbage to load, then start MediaPortal.

    Any thoughts?

    1. Autologin to Windows 8
    2. Remove Windows 8 Boot Screen
    3. Replace Windows 8 Shell (with mediaportal.exe)

Can do any or all of the above, instructions via google or within the MP Wiki

Or put the HTPC to sleep instead of a complete shutdown. It resumes in a couple of seconds on Win 8, doesn't consume much more energy then a power off and you can leave MP running ;)

I would not replace the Shell - that way you remove the existing Windows Interface and replace it with MP. More difficult to debug later. Better to run MP in AutoStart and use the Little script tool I linked to above to go to the Desktop (with MP) on Startup (it just Shows the Metro/Modern Interface for a short while).
