Hey!
I have used the XBMC for a long time now and are vary happy with it, but I now need to run HD-media which XBMC can´t play.
I have decided to build a HTPC but first I need to find a good MCE to run.
There is not to many candidates for the windows platform, the first out is the MediaPortal that looks grate on sceen shoots.
I am trying this MCE on the following setup
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 2.4 Ghz
Memmory : 2 GB
Graphic Card : Geforce 8800GTS 320MB
OS: Windows XP
MediaPortel : 1.0.0.0 RC1
Skins : Xface.844, Core Reloaded.602
Plugins : MP-TVSeries-2.0.765
MPEG-2 video decoder MPV Decoder Filter
H.264 Decoder : CoreAVC
Audio decoder : AC3Filter
Audio renderer : Realtek HD Audio
The following steps are made:
1. Download of the Mediaportel
2. Installation of the Mediaportel
3. Running MediaPortel Setup
4. Installing skins and plugins
5. Change skin to Core Reloaded
6. Setting up Daemon Tools
7. Movies > Subtitles turned on
8. Setup of Movie folders
9. Running The IMDB Movie Database Scan
10. Setup of Music folders
11. Running Update database fomr selected shares
12. Setup of Picture Folders
13. Setup of Stream folder
14. Setup of Weather
15. Saving(Ok?)
16. Starting Media portel
Problems:
Interface:
1. The Interface is slow
1. Cant get the Core Reloaded to look the same way it does on the screen shoots, and some of the text to not simple fits.
Movies:
1. Some avi files are not playable, but the IMDB simes to work on theme to. No message about any decoder that are missing?
2. When steping forward in move the screen freezez but the move plays with sound, after 5-30 s the screen gets in motion again. (do not appear on x264 movies)
3. When startin a x264 movie I get a dialog saying "A decoder for the new track could not be found Track type: SRT/UTF8", pressing OK will start the movie, but subtitle are not shown?
4. Windows is vary slow when playing movie at the same time as doing other things in Windows?
Pictures:
1. With Big Icons the read of photos are vary slow, but when watching a photo in full screen its fast when switching photos
Weather:
1. Unable to get Weather data(Bad or missing query parameters in request) on all the citys that I have added?

It simes like the mediaportal are not a install and play software, the question is where I can find a walkthrough that makes the mediaportal useable?

It simes like the mediaportal are not a install and play software, the question is where I can find a walkthrough that makes the mediaportal useable?
I just want the mediaportal to work as a substitute to XBMC, pleas help
