I am currently running MP 1.5.0 under Win 8 (had same problem under MP 1.4)

    My tuners are:
    • 1x TBS6982 PCI-E DVB-S2 Dual Tuner TV card
    • 3x Hauppauge PCI Nova-S+
    - all with latest drivers

On my sat dish I have 2 types of LNB pointing to different satellites (with different symbol rates)
    • type A has a LOF of 10750MHz
    • type B has a LOF of 11300MHz

This hardware combination worked well under Media Center but under MP the 2x LNB types do not co-exist.

For example, if I use one tuner with its own cable to a LNB. I can scan; preview and watch it's channels.

If I then tune another tuner with its own cable to the other LNB type, I can again scan; preview and watch channels. But the first tuner on the other LNB no longer gets its signal.

I get the same result regardless of which one I scan first and I have tried many combinations of the settings.

I feel that because I enter a LOF for a particular card then it somehow makes other cards default to it; hence their signal loss. I note that when I go into the scanning page, select a card then 'advance tuning options' the LOF shown is not the one that should be associated to that card.

I have searched the forum but could not find a solution - a recent thread had similar symptoms "tbs6985 tuner and MP TV no signal" but perhaps for different reasons. I suspect the few users would have a mix of LNB types.

I attach a log in case it is of help.
This test started at 11.30am - the 2x TBS cards were already pre-tuned to LNB A
I checked for picture - success
I ran a successful scan using a Hauppauge card to LNB B
    Checked for picture - success
Rechecked picture for the TBS cards - now no signal

Because they are different satellites then maybe the different symbol rates are not remaining associated.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    Hello and welcome Bobnz :)

    Here is the problem:
On my sat dish I have 2 types of LNB...

The LNB override settings that you've been using apply to all tuners and all channels when you enable them.

    You're receiving Optus D1 (Freeview/Sky) and D2 (various), right?

The only way to work around this issue is to select one of the LNB frequency settings and stick with it, then modify the tuning detail file for the satellite which is received by the other LNB. That possibly doesn't make a lot of sense, but I'm more that happy to help you work though it.

Here is what I would do.
First, select the LNB settings that you want to use. I recommend using the Optus D1 settings because Optus D2 has less transponders.
From your log files I can see the correct LNB frequency for Optus D1 is 10750 MHz, so set the LNB override frequencies to 10750, 10750, 12750.
Then delete all the channels from Optus D2... or maybe it would be easier to just delete all the channels and rescan Optus D1.
Now comes the trick. Open the Optus D2 tuning detail file:
    • open Windows explorer
    • navigate to the satellite tuning detail folder - this is a hidden folder, so it is easiest to copy + paste "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\TuningParameters\dvbs" into the address bar
    • open "152.0°E Optus D2.xml" in any text editor (right click, open with notepad)
    • subtract 550000 from each of the CarrierFrequency values - for example, the first frequency 12274000 should be changed to 11724000
    • save
Now scan Optus D2 without changing the LNB override settings

You should find that you're now able to receive from both satellites with no trouble. :)
    Scan Optus D1

Thank you for such a prompt and clear reply.

With your help I was able to get everything setup the way I wanted and a good learning experience getting there :)

Now to explore more of MediaPortal...

    thank you again
