I wanted to share my limited experience with getting guide data. I have not yet been successful, but my curiosity led me to crack open the resulting xml files to see what is going on.
When I run mc2xml and select "microsoft legacy" for (TER) lineup, the resulting file contains no program data past July 26. This pretty much agrees with the results I get on my Vista stock sp2 WMC box. The data comes from zap2it and since they have been replaced by MS with Rovi, they are apparently no longer giving guide data through this method.
I tried selecting the Comcast lineup, and it has the same issue with program data ending on July 26.
When I run mc2xml and select "titantv", it errors out complaining about the user ID missing and does not create any files. My TitanTV investigation found that they require a valid 30 character ID that is tied to the tuner hardware for authorized use. For example, Hauppauge tuners using WinTV can get guide data from TitanTV for scheduled recordings, and the ID "belongs" to that app. Apparently someone sniffed this out at some point and posted an ID on the net that worked for awhile but has now been blocked by TitanTV.
