Hi there,

i have the OrigenAE S16V Case for my HTPC and i have big problems configuring the external VFD display.
With MCE it works fine, but i´m not getting it to work with mediaportal using the "external display" or CybrDisplay.

Origen AE Technology - S16V HTPC Enclosure

Perhaps you can help me:)

Should be able to get it working with External display, the VFD using IRTRANS to control it. You should be loading IRTRanstray USB at startup, must have otherwise the remote would not work.

Will also need The Port I/O Driver from here. Download Port I/O

In external display select 'IRTrans LCD/VFD Driver 1.0', set port to 'localhost'

I have Colums 18, Rows 2, these will need to change for display I suspect...

It should work fine then.

If still having problems check in the Mediaportal.log file for 'External Display'

Should see these lines
2008-09-20 16:08:01.575245 [Info.][MPMain]: ExternalDisplay plugin starting...
2008-09-20 16:08:01.600245 [Info.][MPMain]: ExternalDisplay: Loading drivers...

Anything else may point towards the problem.

Trevor

PS: Also deeply jealous....I have the X11 case and have had my eye on the SV16V for a while....just not sure I can warrant the £300 just for a new case...

Thanks for the hint. I´m using irtrans usb and the external display plugin or the cyberdisplay plugin. I can´t install the port i/o because i am using vista x64. So is there any x64 version of this file?

I thinks that case is a great one!! And its worth the money, only thing i found out is if you´re using any kind of bigger Cpu cooler than normal (i´m using scythe mini, not really "mini":p) you cant use the internal 3.5" for an internal drive cause there´s not enough space to insert a bluray drive or something as big as this.

You have the hit the same problem I did, I started off on Vista x64 and switched back to 32bit as there is not a x64 version of port I/O. Thats was not only reason...and few other bits of my h/w did not have x64 drives when I put the system together....

Not sure what else to suggest...why you x64? I thought about and could see no real need.

hm ok i understand what you mean. But i think there must be a way getting this display to work.

Meantime i think that the display is getting information and the connection is working fine but it doesnt show any information in its screen.

Hi

i got this thing to work by replacing the original Port I/O Driver in the Systemfolders of Vista. For the first time this was working but after a while with maybe to much updates or plugins for MP i stopped working again. Instead i had to disable the whole minidisplay plugin in MP configuration because Mp crashed after a short period time.

In between i was reinstalling vista and MP from the ground on few days ago and the only thing i had to do after reinstallation was to replace the original files with the mentioned Port I/O Driver and it works without any problems right now.

Greetings

Nice...one minor detail: -did you revert back to the 32 bit version of Vista, or did you use the I/O drivers on your 64 installation?

Could you please attatch the I/O drivers to this thread (can't extract them from the exe I downloaded from the developer site) and provide the path you extracted/copied them to, plus your plugin settings in MP?
