Getting going with MP (1 Viewer)

Hiya all!

I have to say I'm intrigued by what I've seen of MediaPortal. Although I've not really got it going yet.

I decided to get a Pinnacle TV card. I chose the Pinnacle PCTV 330e which may, in retrospect have been foolish.

It won't intergrate with the Windows XP PInnacle Showcenter software because it only runs on XP Media Center edition or Vista.
On the Vista machine it runs okay, but of course only with MCE.

MCE is fine for watching TV, but this recording to completely fricking unusable DVR format is unbelievable. Plus its laughable EPG isn't helping.

So I thought I'd give MP a try, but it's not going well at all.

I've tried with Mediaportal directly and I've not had any luck getting it to work ("no tuning details") when I add the channels.

I decided to give the TV Server a try and it recognised the card, found most of the channels and everything, but when it came time to try to watch anything I got a "no audio/video" error which seems to be fairly common with the TV Server.

So I'm wondering: anyone here got a Pinnacle USB PCTV 330e working with some form of MP set-up on Vista and using an analog input?
Does the fact that the channels get found bode well? Or is that immaterial?

I'd really love to get MP working, partly because it does some of the stuff I want, but also because I want to be able to play with the source. But I'm not sure I'd like to start with a working system before I start messing around.

Cheers in advance for any help.

    Hi and Welcome :)

I can't speak for the Pinnacle card as I don't use that brand, but there are a number of reasons for the error you are getting.

We really need some further information about your set up (follow the template and fill in everything you can) and also post log files located in the log directory of MP.

With the TV server, can you view TV in the preview window there? IE, in Configuration/TV Channels select a channel then press "preview".
