Hello there,

I'm very very new to the idea of creating a media centre in my living room. I researched a number of front ends was really surprised that this one was not in the top three always mentioned (XBMC, WMC and Boxee). I must say i'm really impressed so far and think I will be using this programme as the base for my media centre.

My question is this.

I have ripped all my media into digital format onto my NAS drive )(Mybookworld) Some of it has been done in wma. I have managed to get the programme to see those files. However i have mostly ripped using handbrake which is H.262 in MP4.

How can I get mediaportal to see and play those files?

Kindest regards

As it's not 'seeing' the files, I assume it the file extensions that are your problem.

In Config GUI, open the Video's tab.

5th item down is Video Extensions.

Here, add the extension (.mp4 or m4p or whatever) you've converted content too and hen close GUI, re-open MP and hopefully, you should see the files in videos and be able to play them.

Scholar and a gent. That has cracked it thankyou very much. I must admit I was scratching my head as I could not find what you were on about. I then opened up the GUI in expert mode and it all made sense. Many many thanks. T-fairy

Excellent, glad you got it sorted.

As I always work in clever dick expert mode by default, not considered that what you see may not be what I see:)
