I have used Meedio and that was great. It allowed me to easily setup my remote do to anything i wanted just buy learning the controls. But iam broke and did not buy it :(

I downloaded HIP and have NO idea how to set it up. I have a DVico Remote the Big black one. Its Also a MCE remote and i can use it with MP. I can use it to navigate the menus and probably a few other things as well. But i realy want tyo use the GO back or back button. MP is useless to me if i can't do that as i need to use the ESC key on the keyboard allthe time.

If anyone can run me though how to program my remote that woudl be great. Or atleast point me to some URLs and or posts to help.

Iam realy determined to get it up and running. As i want a total HTPC system. Sick of using the Softweare i got with my Tner card for TV and having to use the keyboard to use other software for divx Movies and music and so forth. Want it all right so when i put my HTPC together its all sweet :)

/PS as the remote is working atleast the arrow keyts. Were is this config coming from. I selected MCE as the rmote type. But i dont see any place where i can program buttons. I wish MP has this built in like Meedio would make it so much easier. Instead of using a external program for whichi have not got a clue on setting up :(

If you can help please do. ill struggle along and try to get it working. But from the looks of it i dobt ill figure it out.

Thanks for any help.

Having some progress.

I installed the full HIP program install. Plus the reciver .DLL for my Dvico card. I can now navigate somehow with my remote.

But iam still in the dark on how to program my buttons on my remote. Ive had a look arround HIP and can't see any way of doing this. i know its their but how. Could you esplain if i selct MCE Dvico template that shoudl have all the MCE remote options on it right. But it seems not to. Doe snot have back whichi want so i can easily get out of trouble with the one button.

It does have Previous now and works so i might try that which works but i would like it programed on the back button. As at the moment to get previous i have to push the - volume button to get this option and even then arrow keys to get to it.

Any help would be great. I think iam getting it but the programming is alittle beyond me me thinks.

HELP ME HELP ME.

Alright, here's a quick guide to using HIP:

    Fire up HIP.

Go to File -> Preferences -> Alternate Input tab. Make sure HID is selected here. I suggest you click on the Device Configuration button to ensure that your DVICO remote is listed. Also, check the 'Check Scan Code' box and perform the Test procedure by pressing the Test button. You may need to come back here later to change the repeat delay settings. Press OK to return to the preferences screen.

Here you can set the responses that you want when a key is pressed, no matter what application is running (hence system-wide). To set one, press the Add Value button. It will then ask you to press the desired button on your remote. Once you've done this, enter a description for the key, then in the Primary Command box, enter the keyboard key you want the remote key you pressed to emulate. You can also use the System Keys list instead if required. For more complex keyboard combinations, press the Keyboard icon next to the Primary Command box. Press OK when you're done. Repeat this for all your system-wide keys. I would program in the arrow keys, volume up/down, ESC, ENTER, mute, sleep computer. You will need to return here once you've set the path to MediaPortal.exe to program a key to start MediaPortal.

Once that's done, press OK to return to the main HIP screen.

Click on the program 1 radio button, and then click on the folder icon and select where your MediaPortal.exe file is located.

Now, in the section below, add all the remote commands that are specific to MP (e.g. b for stop, m for DVD menu etc.). The procedure for this is the same as the system-wide keys. See here for a list of the keyboard commands for MP. https://www.team-mediaportal.com/mpwiki/KeyboardShortcuts

Once you're done there, save the configuration by going to File -> Save Configuration, then press the Run button and you're off!

This is the long way to do it; as oppose to attempting to get MP to recognise your DVICO MCE remote as a MCE remote, but its also the more flexible way. I can't help you with the MCE remote method - but if you do go that way, HIP is not necessary for that.

    Paul,
All this can be a little daunting to those of us who are new to MP. but hang in the mate, it is still the best piece of PVR software that I have used :)

I would recommend that you look at investing in the M$ remote this works beautifully for a lot of us here, and the nice part is that it just works, no config need :D

But if you would like to persist with the divco unit, a serch for the forums will give you a wealth of information...

to kick you off, I found this one by searching "fusion remote" using the " search for all terms" option
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=8037&highlight=fusion+remote

    I hope this helps

    Cheers
