Okay, I am getting pretty confused with trying to get TV going in MP. I have got it going once, fiddled with it and lost it and now don't know what I configured to get it working in the first place. So, I'm going to ask a few possably dumb questions I didn't find the answer to in either the FAQ or manual.

I'm in the media portal setup.

Under the /capture cards/ tab, my divco dual card is displayed as card1&2. They both show the recording folder as C:\doccuments and settings...etc. If I change them to e:\TV ( a drive I have set up), they will default to C:\doccuments and settings... when I reopen the setup dialogue.

Do I have to autotune both cards? I am assuming I do.

Under the /tv channels/ tab, I get a list of channels by clicking 'import from TV guide'. Is that all I have to do here? The next tab is /tv cards/. Do I put all the channels on the LHS to the RHS for both divco cards 1&2?

Under the /TV Groups/ tab, I have no idea what TV groups are used for or what I'm meant to be setting up here. Any clues would be appreciated. Also, the next tab 'map channels', again, what are they for?

Under the /program guide/ tab, do I leave the 'grab EPG' checkbox off? I'm using ICETV to manually put a tvguide.xml in the xmltv folder.

Thanks for hearing me out. I hope someone there can shed some light on this.

Start by going to MP folder/database and delete tvdatabase, also channellist in MP folder and in MP setup remove programs from tvguide database, this will give you a clean start.

Next go to mp setup/tvcards/card1/edit, select your record path and then go to autotune.
    Repeat for card2.
After tuning complete go to channels and hit the combine button, then exit MP setup with the ok.

    Thats your tv side setup.

EPG ticked does not affect any xml import for epg.

Sorry if a bit short but reinstalling everything on pc at moment.

Make sure you have closed Mediaportal before changing the configuration, otherwise there can be problems with the saving of settings. Check that all instances of MP have closed using Task Manager.

Okay, terriffic. i now have TV. I have done a scan with the cards and also added my icetv guide (tvguide.xml). BUT...

The guide has tuned T on a bunch of channels with no guide information, and below that I have a bunch of guide information with no signal tuned to them. I can watch TV but not record anything. I think the cards have tuned into different bandwiths (or something) than those catered for by ICETV. i have used Jrobbos guide with the same results. Ant clues Melbourne people (or anyone :))
