Getting USB-UIRT to send IR commands within MP? (1 Viewer)

Sorry... I'm a bit of a MediaPortal newb and couldn't find an answer to this when I searched the forums.

I have a USB-UIRT and just using a remote from an old DVD player to run MediaPortal, which works wonderfully.

I'm playing my audio from my HTPC via SPDIF, so no control on volume except via my audio receiver. I programmed two buttons on the DVD remote to act as volume up and down, but can't find a way within MP to use the USB-UIRT to then "blast" or send the IR commands to my audio receiver.

Am I missing something?

My opinion is to save yourself some trouble and buy a universal learning remote control with enough buttons to program all the MCE remote buttons (they can be found for $20-$25). Then use a different device on the control for your receiver ... and TV .. and ... whatever else you might have. I use MP with my TV and receiver and it is VERY convenient.

I might have to go that route but I've been avoiding it.

I'm looking for a remote with just a small selection of buttons and every universal remote I've come across has about a bazillion buttons.

The reason I really want to use this remote is because it's small, laid out really well and pretty much just has the buttons I need (about 20).

Maybe an alternate question is this: anyone know of a universal programmable remote that just has the bare necessities for buttons and is cheap? I don't watch TV - just movies - don't need the 0-9 buttons, etc.
