Hello community, I am new to the forum.. Usually I am a Linux nut but I do have a duel boot win7/Linux machine..

Curious on a few things for I need to explore other OS to keep my knowledge on all. I am very familer with the operation of xbmc in Linux.. Now I do not run a tv tuner card here for I have no reason to.. 1st too far out in the boonies for a Digital antenna reception,, too far out for cable,, and satellite is just not worth it.. I use xbmc for almost all viewing of shows.. now I do have some live tv stations and use a .m3u file with the sites listed

Code:
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,Eurosport
http://194.116.252.129:4022/udp/239.239.2.85:1234

so to get live tv channels say like I get in xbmc with a .m3u file how do I get it into media player or do I have to convert the file to say a .xspf file?

can someone give me a little shove on this please?

I better specify i am running win7 and the latest version of mediaportal 1.10.0

regards

Hey, welcome and sorry for a late reply. To be honest, I am no expert on this, but you may try the following two options:

    1) Open up the TVServer Config (http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...uration/TV-Server_Configuration/02_TV_Servers) and try to manually insert the channels you want to use. (Not sure if this is working tho)

    2) Install the onlinevideos-plugin (https://www.team-mediaportal.com/extensions/movies-videos/onlinevideos) and try if you find the channels over there. If not available, you can add then. Maybe as described here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...cast-youtube-playlists-and-users-video.73249/

But as said...not so sure about that stuff. Just wanted to give you first steps. Maybe someone with more knowledge jumps in now.

    Hello and welcome folks :)

You can use MediaPortal's TV Server to receive some IPTV streams. Technically: only those that are MPEG 2 transport streams. Those tend to be streams from real IPTV providers rather than generic internet streams. To do this, you'd save the m3u file in TV Servers "tuning details" folder - c:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\TuningParameters\dvbip - and then scan in each of the channels using the virtual DVB-IP tuner.
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...ver_Configuration/02_TV_Servers/6_Scan_DVB-IP

Note: I'd advise to install the updated IPTV filter from here:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ortal-url-source-splitter-iptv-filter.121165/

It may be more stable or compatible with additional streams than the built-in/standard IPTV filter.

Note 2: if you experience crashes or "no signal" when scanning, it's a pretty good sign that the streams you're trying to receive are not compatible with MP's IPTV input. In that case, your best option is to try MP's OnlineVideos plugin as indicated by The_Stig.

    Regards,
    mm
