Ok, then the blurring probably isn't due to 3:2 pulldown. However, I don't think the renderer would have anything to do with that. Are you sure you aren't seeing the same blurring with MPC-HC and the SP1/SP2 EVR DLL? In this particular case, taking a screenshot will show you 0-255 levels. This is because the video decoder is being told by the drivers that it's a PC and therefore PC levels should be used and thus the decoder is outputting 0-255. The ATI drivers then take all video output before it gets to the HDMI port and compress the levels to 16-235 because you have Pixel Format set to Limited. So basically all your content gets compressed to 16-235, which is why your desktop, video, pictures, etc. all look the same/similar in terms of black levels. If your screenshot showed levels of 16-235 then you should be even more worried, because that would mean the 16-235 levels are then getting compressed by the ATI drivers even further to 32-215! You definitely don't want that. Because you're seeing 17-25 then you know for a fact that you aren't losing video details. You need not worry about that. You're losing 0-16 but that isn't important for video content. The other option to all of this is output 16-235 at the decoder level and let ATI output 0-255. But then your desktop, pictures, etc. would look darker than your video. The Pixel Format was a grace from ATI to allow us HTPC users to set everything to the same.
