This is a thought i had.

Not really a feature request, because it is not really needed, more fun.
a bit inspired by the audioscrobbler feature.

How, if you could find similar pictures easily?

All sunsets? All flowers? All photos of your dog? Based on the analyzis of the picture content.

There are open source projects that have developped algorythms based on different methods.

    one example is this:

    8e2883569953393f7e01ab76b5c10065.png

based on this sourceforge project: http://sourceforge.net/projects/imgseek

The natural thing to do is to go by folder.
You can also tag your pictures with exif tags with a tool, but not sort them in mp by these tags.
and a third method would be a content based one.

If there is any feedback I can do some more research on existing projects.
(But in general I think there is not much interest in the pictures section for mp users, judging from former posts to pictures section)

    Any thoughts?

Wow, that content matcher looks like it works very well. Perhaps I will have to take a peek at the algorithm to satisfy my own curiosity...

I just wish we could tag and then search on the tags!

Any chance this could be developed for My Pictures in the future? It would be REALLY useful to be able to hit the context key and have a dialog that pops-up with all the tags associated with all pictures in the database. Then I could select "family" (for example) and have all pictures filtered for those of my family and run a slideshow only on those.

It would also be nice to be able to select (a) picture(s), then select (a) tag(s) to go with it, but I would be willing to edit the pictures database directly to add my tags.

This seems really key - anyone agree?

I just stumbled on this 13 month old thread. This seems like a nice project to our skilled plugin developers?
