Hi all,

I don't know this is the best place to ask:
I have a 1TB hd and a 1.5TB
On my 1TB HD i created a partition:
First I have 50GB and the other partition the rest.

I installed win7 32bit on the first partition,
my movies and tv recordings are on the rest of the HD,
my series are on the 1.5TB HD

The problem is that more and more my movies/recordings/... hangs 2-3 sec and than continue playing.
In that time I have no sound.
I tried playing a movies in MPC in windows and even with VLC
The problem is there also.

Thats why I'm thinking my hd is too slow to read my newly recorded program.
The both hd's are 7200rpm,
but my both hds only have 200GB free space left
Do you think that might be the problem?

As a sollution I was thinking to install windows on my 1.5TB hd because I don't watch the series a lot,
and when watching a movie or recording he can keep reading the same file?

This looks like a disturbing virus scanner or something like that. First I would try to defrag the HD, then test. Then disable the virus scan and test. Check for other background software that could use HD and disable.

Check the system event logs for anything that reoccurs during these times.

It could also be your HD being on the edge of breaking, so try a check disk (do you have a backup??)

Hi,

it is a new mediacenter pc i put together.
The hd, ... is brand new (I copied all my movies and series from my old small hds to it)
I installed windows 7 32 bit, avast free, saf 5.0, mediaportal, 4the record and thats it.

Last time when pc was hanging every minute I watched processor and it was normal (20-30% in use)
How to watch what programs are using the hd or could hang?
I installed windows again on the partition of my data and in that windows (afther installing what I needed) hanging was there also.
Afther a reboot I got no hanging.

So it must be a program that hangs instead of the hd that can't follow?

did you disable avast for a test? (you could unplug it from the nw for security)

No I didn't try that yet.
I just installed a new windows 7 (with mediaportal, saf, ...) on my second hd (1.5TB)
For now I didn't had one hang up.
Like you said there should be a program that is causing it.
Ill test around with my fresh windows and when no problems i will format my original windows on C and reinstall windows there

OK, I had probably misunderstood your previous post that you still had issues with the parallel installed OS.
