Hello

I am planing to build a Mediaportal PC but have some questions about the hardware system.

Video goes via HDMI to the Screen but what about audio? To have a nice sound it somehow need an amplifier!? An A/V-Receiver cound do that but actually Mediaportal would be the receiver, no? So all it needs is a device that amplifies the signal that comes from MP. What is recommended for the audio signal?
Second question is: How can I remote control the sound (volume, bass etc) in that device? Is ist possible to control everything by one remote control (the one for Mediaportal)? And does there exist an nice app for a tablet to control everything?

Maybe very stupid questions, but thanks anyway for help.

The sound goes trough the HDMI... to the TV or to a AMP :)
I think you cant handle the Volume by MP...

Tablet app for Android aMPdroid... for Apple Couchpotato or the old iPIMP

    Hi

Via Control Panel/Sounds in Win7, you can set the Default Sound device to what ever is connected to the HDMI (provided unit is turned on). Then, send audio to Default Sound device within MP Config - in the Codec's & Renderer menu, setting the Audio Renderer - also, set Sound Device in Music menu if you want to send music via HDMI.

As to controls, it's Volume only as far as I know, but as that's all I need, I've not looked.

Suggest you install following patches - these give MP control of the Win7 master audio volume setting - without it, it's easy for MP to loose control (when TV is turned off then on again).
