Hi all,

I've been attempting to get my Harmony 525 remote to work with Media Portal for a few days now.

Firstly, I don't want the direction buttons to have anything to do with the mouse cursor. I only want the remote to issue "keyboard" commands, as I don't want to use a mouse (or it's capabilities) at all.

How do I do this?

I've been attempting to work out how to map my Harmony remote to an MCE remote, and have it issue the appropriate "Previous Item" command for the up arrow, and the "Next Item" for the down arrow. Any idea how to do this? I have a Silverstone LC16-MR case, and I've tried using the iMon software as well as the IR Server software, with absolutely no success. The iMon software won't let me redefine the "arrows" at all. I suspect the IR Server software is going to save my bacon, but I've not had any luck whatsoever...

Any ideas? Anyone else done something similar?

Cheerio,
andrew

did you try to map your buttons via Mediaporta?
I have the 525 with the MCE codes aswell, and actually all buttons work like a charm....

(did you choose MCE in the harmony setup, or did you do it manually?)
Do you have a way to check if the ir signals are received?

    cheers

Yes, well, I've had it working for a while, just in a way I consider unusable. It's acting as a "mouse" which is really shitting, as I want it to act as a keyboard (e.g. press up equals up on the keyboard). I don't want the mouse cursor at all. Unfortunately, I've now got it in a competely confused state, so will uninstall MP tomorrow, and do a fresh install.

I've a feeling the IR Server Install is bodging things up a little....

I've tried setting the remote up for Windows Media Center as well as for a Silverstone LC16-M. I had more success with the latter, but it's still insisting on using the mouse mapping rather than keyboard ones.

Sigh... Onwards to day 5 of the remote control fiasco!

I'm also having the same problem, except with a Speedlink MCE remote (see SPEED-LINK / Products / PC Accessories / Keyboards / Remote Control / Media Remote Control, MCE)

Basically, I'm running MCE 2005 and the remote works fine, buttons all work etc. However, in Media Portal, some of the buttons don't work. I've tried various remote-mapping devices etc, the Media Portal setup, but only certain buttons are recognised.

What is the easiest way to get my remote working?

    Thanks

    Hi,
grumpydude, i have a 885 set as MCE remote & that works out of the box with MP, the reason for that could be i'm using a MCE receiver, dunno what you use?

rsachoc, your issue it's different. Most probably yours it's not detected by MP & therefore used(if you have enablet MCE remote in MediaPortal Configuration -> Remote(you should start a new post with your prob)

    Regards

Grumpydude, you mentioned Silverstone - are you using the Imon software? If so, this could be the source of your problem. I had similar problem so ditched Imon and replaced with Girder.

I use iMon and a Harmony 785 with great success, you need to set the iMon software to keyboard mode. And away you go.
