Harmony 700 remote control setup (2 Viewers)

I am very, very, very new to Media Portal and I have Harmony 700 remote control and would like to use with MP.
1. What IR receivers can I use.
2. How do I go about programing my remote? I know how to program through Logitech's software and such, but how do I know what to program it to?

Use any MCE remote and set your Harmony to use MediaPortal as a device.

Cool. Thanks Bulldogge. . Do the MCE remotes come with a USB receiver to make it communicate with MP/computer? I would assume so but not sure. I'm really looking forward to using MP and a remote will make it sooooooo enjoyable. Thanks again.

Yes - just purchase any MCE remote for a PC and it should come with a USB dongle (read the box to be sure). Then you can use that remote with MediaPortal or you can set up your Harmony. When setting up my Harmony I just selected MediaPortal as my device for the appropiate commands and everything works great. I have read of other people selecting a MCE remote as a device however I have not tried this.

Heads up: Be aware that not any MCE Remote will work this way. There are different versions out there. Some only working as HID-Device or via Eventghost. Be sure to get one of the version 1 receivers like those here.
