Harmony remote/cyberlink ir (1 Viewer)

Hi

I've just bought a Harmony 895. Until now i've been using a Cyberlink remote that followed with Powercolor ATI 550Pro tv-card. The problem with cyberlink is that not all buttons work in mediaportal.
If i turn on MCE and HID remotes in Mediaportal Setup I can only use standard buttons like: up, down, V+, V-, 1,2....
Other buttons like: subtitle, SAP, colorbuttons do not work.

So I wonder if anyone can help me to solve this issue?

I prefer to use Harmony remote with cyberlink ir-reciever. i belive that if I get all buttons to work on Cyberlink remote, then Harmony can learn all Ir codes.

I also have an ir reciever on my Creative Live! 24-bit External. Can it be used somehow?

Another solution is to by a new IR reciever, which one?

I use WinXP pro, so I'm not sure if MCE ir/remote will work???

You need to use the Harmony configuration program and have the Harmony remote learn all the buttons that you want to use (except, of course, for the ones that already work).

The cyberlink receiver is a custom HID device... quite limited, and usually only works with the remote that is included with it or a remote the can learn the original remote codes (like the harmony)....

The Creative LiveDrive IR is NOT a PNP device and does not use the traditional windows drivers.... Instead, Creative included a piece of software called "Remote Center Manager" that is required to use the remote.... but it was not packaged with all models of the device and is not available from the creative website.... But this software does not alow you to remap remote keys... There is a Girder plugins for these devices... but it does not work with all combinations of these devices and remotes... It also does not support standard remote controls...

The newer Audigy/X-Fi line of cards are a little more flexible... they have several different "IR" options...
There is an IRDA receiver... which can not be used with a consumer remote control, it is for IR data devices such as cell phones... The others are OEM versions of the Microsoft MCE receiver... one with a customized Microsoft MCE remote and the other with a cheap flat box custom remote (like the ones that really cheap TV cards are bundled with).... There is also the X-Fi I/O center that has an MCE remote and receiver...

The Microsoft MCE remotes will work with XP pro.... maybe... there is a new version of these remotes that are "Designed for Vista" that currently do not work with XP.... That may or may not change in the future... If you can get a version 2 MCE kit... it will work just fine with XP (although it is a little more work to get the drivers...)... They are still available and run at around $30USB... If you need a TV cards as well, Hauppauge packages an MCE V2 receiver and Custom MCE Remote (that, IMHO is much nicer to use than the Microsoft receiver - better form factor and button layout) with their PVR 150 Media Center kits...

Your best bet would be to get an MCE receiver... and as a bonus you get IR Blaster capabilities...
