I have been a MediaPortal user for the past 2 years and have been very impressed with the results that the team has now given us. However my wife has never been keen on having a PC in the lounge and the general picture quality. But she does want the videos, pictures and all the other features MediaPortal offers!!!
I acquired a Media MVP for £35 to see what it would give me and I've been very impressed. The only downside is that it won't work with MediaPortal and has to work with either Hauppage's own software or GBPVR.
When used with GBPVR I get a fast booting thin client in the lounge which gives me all the functionality my wife wants and apart from the occasional reset and fastforwarding AVI's it works extremely well.
This is a great bit of kit for all of us that do not want to have a PC in the lounge and it's cheap!!! - £50 from PC world business outlet or between £30 and £40 on ebay.
Are there any plans to have a plugin to enable one of these as a media extender in MediaPortal?
