hauppauge 1300 Analog question (1 Viewer)

Hi,
just setup my 1st MP system (V1.0.0.0 RC1 - no svn) and trying to use a Hauppauge 1300 for analog.
The card gets detected and I can scan for channels but the quality is not great and doesn't find all channels compared to using WinTV.

I don't really understand why MP is not performing as well as WinTV since it using same drivers etc.... but I don't know anything about programing to understand...
I tried a booster on the aerial but that didn't help - probably didn't make sense since the signal is fine anyway for WinTV ....

My questions are:
- is there anything I can do to improve MPs performance for analog reception
- is there a get the channel/tuning information from WinTV and put it into MP so that I a) get 2 missing channels and b) might help it along with fine tuning

I think I read something in the forum at some stage about similar topic but I can't find it anymore....

Hi juk, welcome to the forum

Could you please fill in your "My system" found in User CP, or at least say if you use TVE2 or TVServer (chosen when installing).

I remember a loong time ago, I got freq. from other apps. (like DScaler4 - but you can't use that) and manually entered this in MP.

yes sorry - I have filled In some information...
I am using TV server but thought I give the other option (without server) but that didn't really make any change regarding the quality..
Then I installed the last SVN to try out the quality control but I am sure how to use that, is there some information out about that?
Any ideas how to improve the quailty?

Have done some more digging around and tried for example the following link:
Finding analogue TV broadcast frequencies for MCE 2005 - Articles

but that didn't import any frequencies or similar - so maybe it only works with those cards mentioned...

Did some more scanning and testing in WinTV and MP and always the same result - WinTV finds more channels and in better quality which brings me to the following conclusion:


1. MP has not a complete frequency list since it doesn't pick up all channels
2. fine tuning isn't working as well

questions now are:

1. where does MP get the frequency/channel list from - is that from Windows or inbuild in MP
2. can this channel/frequency list be updated for MP (once I figure out where WinTV is getting it from)
3. how does MP do the fine tuning / is there anything that can be modified ....

4. does anybody know more about WinTV and how to get the channel/frequency info out of it
5. I presume this information is stored in the SQL DB on the TVserver - how does one add/edit it?

Does nobody else have similar issues or is nobody using analog anymore?
Any other information or corrections welcome.
