I have been using my HTPC for 3.5 years now, all with Mediaportal. In January I "upgraded" to Windows 8. After upgrading to Win8 I could never get hardware acceleration to work on my integrated graphics (Radeon 4250). So this last weekend, I installed a new Geforce 610 graphics card and replaced my two ATi Diamond 650 tuners with 1 Hauppauge 2250 (since I only have 2 PCI-e slots).

Since putting in the new hardware, I've had a weird issue with LiveTV. If I try to view Live TV, without recording, I get sound over my SPDIF optical connection, but my HDTV gives a "Mode Not Supported" error message. If I unplug the HDMI cable from the TV and replug it, I get video ago, but Mediaportal portal turns off the live TV. I can watch Live TV in Windows Media Center and if I start recording the show I can watch it just fine, even if I catch up to live.

I am running all of the latest drivers. I use Lav Filters, and have uninstalled/reinstalled them. I switched back to my integrated graphics card and got the same problem. The preview in the TV-server config does work. I have also tried the Microsoft DTV-DVD codec. I have tried every different setting in my video card driver I can think of, including all possible scaling options.

Looking at the log file, this stood out as weird to me, not sure if it matters, but my TV doesn't support 50 FPS:
"2013-04-10 19:24:24.903639 [Warn.][MPMain(1)]: GraphicContext: NO screen calibration file found for resolution 1920x1080!
2013-04-10 19:24:24.906639 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: GraphicContext: MP will render at 50 FPS, use animations = True"[DOUBLEPOST=1365642319][/DOUBLEPOST]Well, I went in to the Dynamic Refresh rate setting and changed the "TV" setting to be 59.94 and 59 and it seems to be working. I don't know if this is a work around or an actual fix, though. I have never had to mess with these settings before, when I was using my Diamond 650 tuner cards.

Looks like you're using the 2250 for its digital ATSC (over-the-air)/clear QAM (cable) tuners as opposed to its analog tuners... which is to say that the channels that you'll be receiving will have frame rate of 29.97 FPS.

59/59.94 FPS (= 2 x 29.97) is normal for the US and other coutries that [formerly] use[d] NTSC for their analog video standard.
In the same way, 50 FPS is normal for "PAL" countries.

Don't know how your ATI tuners worked before, but I'd say the change is correct.

I am using the digital tuners on the 2250 for ATSC. I just think it is weird that MediaPortal is no longer detecting the proper settings for playback and drops back to a default, only for LiveTV. If I start recording a show and then start watching it MediaPortal detects "720p" and "1080p" correctly.

I have this problem for all Live TV, no matter the format of the source material.

If by saying that you're referring to the message about 50fps that you quoted earlier... I think that message is triggered when you replug the HDMI cable.

If I start recording a show and then start watching it MediaPortal detects "720p" and "1080p" correctly.

I don't quite follow... but obviously 720p and 1080p are resolutions, not frame rates.

I suspect the change of video card may have more to do with this than anything else. I suggest try reverting to the integrated graphics and see what happens.

I was thinking I got that error message when I tried to view a channel but it was actually earlier in the log than that.

Here is what I got when I viewed the channel:

So for some reason, MediaPortal thinks the station is broadcasting at 25Hz for live TV playback, but 30Hz for recorded TV playback.

I am thinking this line "19:24:46.723410 [Debug][MPMain(1)]: MediaInfoWrapper: disabled for this content" might have something to do with it

I don't quite follow... but obviously 720p and 1080p are resolutions, not frame rates.

Well I meant that MediaPortal is identifying the correct format of the media stream for recording, where it doesn't appear to be doing the same for Live TV. I have tried using the integrated graphics again, I am still having the same issue, which is why I think the issue has something to do with the Hauppauge setup.

Here is a bit of the log file from when I started a recording, that was recording live TV. What is interesting is here the MediaInfoWrapper works and returns the correct information about the stream, where for live TV it claims it was disabled.
