Synopsis::

Hi,

I am trying to get my origional (909) nova-t remote control working under mediaportal. having read the forum it seems to be supported out of the box with media portal however the setup program directed me to install additional software from the website (the wintv IR software) and i just can't get the remote working.

FYI. this is a fresh install of windows, i have not had the remote working at all with this setup. the previous working setup was with showshifter and the origional non bda drivers off the CD.

any ideas?

thanks

dicki

have i left something out of this support request or is it confusing? i really need some help with this one!

it appears to be a bda driver issue because the remote doesn't work in showshifter or gbpvr (installed while waiting for a response here...) there has to be other people using the nova-t remote... how did you get it working?

    I have the same card as you, and when I started using the TechnoTrend BDA drivers I gave up on the Hauppauge remote, bought the Microsoft MCE remote and never looked back. Maybe things have changed, but if you look at this post it explains that although it's a Hauppauge remote, the card itself is built by TechnoTrend and does not work with the common drivers.

    thanks for your response,

    so if i made an IR receiver and used winlirc or something it should work? i don't see that being a problem...

    regarding MCE remotes, as i understood it you actually need a copy of MCE for them to work? i currently run XP so would this be an option for me?

    thanks

    Not sure whether the Hauppauge remote would work with a standard IR receiver (depends on the frequencies I guess, but that's beyond me).

    The MCE remote works out of the box with XP Pro and XP MCE. You will need to install drivers if you wish to use the MCE remote with XP Home, which is something I believe various MP users have done. If you do a search you should find the drivers for use with XP Home.

    Hope that helps.
