Hi there

I have been a happy user for MediaPortal for the last 2 months. But I am having problems with the WAF factor (Wife Acceptance Factor) since MediaPortal some times seems a bit unstable.

I am using an old PC (Athlon 1333) running WinXP, 512MB mem, with a new Geforce 5200 (I think) and a Hauppauge Nova-T PCI card (DVB-T) for watching tele.

In general music playing etc. is running at an acceptable level but the TV part has some missing features/errors. I should have the latest driver for the DVB-T card installed. This is some of the problems I am facing. (some of these might be related to the slow processor).

1. Using teletext causes non working controls afterwards (like channel change, going to the home screen etc.). This can be provoked to work again by trying pressing my TV-Guide button several times and then the TV button on my Hauppauge remote ?

2. Using teletext is slow. What I mean here is when entering digits it takes a few seconds before they show up on the screen ?

3. There seems to be no DVB-T subtitle support ?

4. Some TV channels uses teletext for subtitles, but when showing this page I have a black screen (should be invisible) with subtitles (they also seems to be coming too late - not sure if this a problem with MediaPortal or the selected TV channel). Is there a way to remove the black background when using teletext (like it can be done with a normal TV) ?

Just wanted to know if anyone has experienced the same problems with the PCI DVB-T card from hauppauge and if any of this is related to the slow CPU ?

Another question... since the DVB-T card from Hauppauge only has one tuner is it then possible to use 2 of these cards with MP ? (like one for viewing and one for recording ?)

Best wishes and keep up the good work,
Mads L. Christiansen

    Hi again

Must say that was a quick answer! ;-)

Actually I was using the latest daily build for the 20th of March.
Just rupgraded ight now (as I often do) to the daily build from today. And it actually did som improvements on the teletext part.

    1. Now controls seems OK after using teletext (this is the first time it is working OK for me after using teletext).
It seems with my Hauppauge remote I can press the * key to enter teletext and now have to use the TV key to go back to normal TV mode (before I could just use the * key again). After playing a bit around I ended up with a little different functionality. When watching TV and pressing the TV key the teletext screen reappeared ? But after going back to my home screen and reentered the TV appl. it worked OK again. But definately an improvement.

    2. Teletext now seems just a bit faster and working OK (although still a bit slow when entering digits - but acceptable).

    3. Thanks for the DVB-T subtitles support link - looking forward to having this option!

    4. This would still be a nice feature - to be able to make the background invisible (this would actually save me - for now - on the subtitles part).

Would it be OK for me to buy an extra DVB-T card from hauppauge and can MediaPortal handle it in the same way as a normal dual tuner card ?

Thanks you so much for taking the time to answer my post,
    Mads.

Hit "Back/Exit" on your remote to get back from TTX. If you hit "TV" you toggle your TV's fullscreen/windowed mode. All you see is totally expected to be like that. You just use the wrong button... ;-)

Actually the back/exit button doesn't work.

    1. * button gives me the fullscreen teletext page
    2. If I then enter * button again I get the non fullscreen teletext page
    3. If I here enter the * key I return to fullscreen teletext the same goes for the Back/exit button
    4. When I'm back at fullscreen teletext I can use the TV button to reenter fullscreen TV.

This is how my remote works...

    Best wishes,
    Mads

    You found a bug!

It's fixed in the next CVS builds. Be sure to reset to default mappings, if it's not working as expected.
