Synopsis::

As long as I don't send my MediaPC to hibernate, everything works fine. :)
However, after waking up from Hibernation, my Hauppauge remote (45 keys) doesn't work anymore. When closing MP, HCWhelper crashes (MsgBox "...has encountered a problem and has to be closed"). After that, restarting MP does not bring the IR back to life. I am then unable to restart the Hauppauge IR tool either, no error, it simply wouldn't load or show up in the tray.
If I then restart the computer, WinXP device manager shows an "!" for the Hauppauge USB device. Unplugging and reconnecting the PVR solves the problem. The "!" then disappears and IR tool as well as MP work again with the remote after this procedure.

I spent quite some time looking for a cure for this error, so any help would be strongly appreciated. :?

Regards,
Cronos

BTW, I had a very similar problem on another computer with a Hauppauge PVR-150. However, installing the latest stable patch solved the issue there.

Meanwhile I've done some more testing and it seems that the problem only occurs if I hibernate Windows via the remote (mapping done within MP Setup: Action - Hibernate Windows). If I let the system hibernate through the topbar button or via Power Scheduler Plugin, there is no problem whatsoever, the remote continues to work after system wakeup! Very confusing... :?

If that was causing the issue, I think I can live with it. Still, it would be interesting to know what is actually causing this bug...?

Every now and again (once in about 10 wakeups from hibernation) I am still having problems... IR doesn't work, upon closing MP HCWhelper crashes (same error as above). But: This time, after restarting MP, IR does return to work properly. Still, it is quite annoying always having to restart MP when this happens (plus, the PVR tuner functions are out of service until restarting MP, e.g. radio alarm).

Sorry for not providing a log this time, it seems restarting MP several times overwrote the "diagnostic" one... :(

Any suggestions for this issue? I wonder if noone else has had similar problems with the PVR USB2...
Pls, someone help!

re: USB2 nova problem

Yes, sounds very familiar..
I've had exactly the identical problem with my remote, using the same USB WinTV hardware as you. As you say, reconnecting the device solves the problem but isn't exactly the most optimal solution..
Funnily enough if you open up WinTV2000 after the crash an error message occurs, stating that the "hardware is in use by another application". I'm doing what I can to try and solve this frustrating matter, but have had very limited success.

Another conflict using the hardware has come to my attention, I don't know if you're experiencing the same problem? It seems that after viewing a pre recorded program the TV tuner will not work at all, displaying a blank notification box in MP with a black screen where the picture should be.
Restarting MP solves this problem, however the circumstances strike me as being very unusual. Changing video codecs makes no difference.

Have you seen this as well?
Hopefully the devs can iron this matter out in the near future.

Hmmm, I have not seen the issue you described so far. That is, I've been watching recorded shows and then switch to TV and there is no problem for me. Sorry I cannot help you on that one lad...

Concerning my issue, HCWHelper sometimes still crashes, but it happens rather infrequently. At least, now with the latest MP patch, the PVR tuner doesn't seem to be affected anymore by this. Just gotta restart MP once and that's it. Not my favourite exercise, but only a minor pain I suppose...

Anyway, if someone has got a solution for this don't hesitate to share it with us... :)
