Hi

I'm new to MediaPortal. I used XBMC a while ago and found MediaPortal
So i installed it with a WinTV Card from Hauppauge.
It looks very good except of the Remote from my Hauppauge Card.
in the Mediaserver Configuration i turned on the Hauppauge Remote. nothing happend.
Then i activated the MCE Remote an no i got the Click sounds when i press a button on the Remote but nothing is happening in Mediacenter (not the Windows Clicksound. The sound from Mediaportal e.g. on a normal Keyboard -> arrowkey)

Hauppauge Computer Works : WinTV-HVR-4400

The Hauppauge Remote is an RC6 (tsha-ir01) see the Picture on the Hauppauge website.

Any Idea how i got this Remote working?

Logs attached

AW: Hauppauge RC6 TSHA-IR01 Plugged in HVR-4400

I tried with IRTrans server but it didn't work. in windows mediacenter the remote works like a charm

any idea?

Edit:

one step forward, i realized everytime i push a nutton on my remote mediaportal got it as the number zero (0).
i tried the learning function and voila every button was recognised as 0

tried eventghost, no luck so far...

I found under MCE Remote - MediaPortal Wiki
a picture of my Remote
http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/@api/deki/files/1382/=Black_Hauppauge_2rows_jumppoints.jpg

The name in the link says Hauppauge, so this appears to be the same as my remote.
i installed an older driver and the newest one. no change. still only the 0 Button working (every button works as the 0 button)

in Eventghost the Buttons are recognised correctly

I think I'm in the same boat as you. I have a Hauppauge 2250 (with MCE kit)

Here's a closeup:

I think the MediaPortal documentation must be talking about remotes (MCE or Hauppauge) which connect to a USB port which is clearly not the case for you or me (as our infrared sensor plugs into the back of the card itself):

The WinTV software from Hauppauge never cleanly installed for me on win7, so I don't really know if the remote actually works.

AW: Hauppauge RC6 TSHA-IR01 Plugged in HVR-4400

The installation was no problem for me, as the TV-Card and the Remote worked perfectly in WinTV or Windows Media Center.
Just in MediaPortal and XBMC every Key was recognised as the number 0.
I saw a post in this Forum from a user with a HVR-4400 and he got it working with IRTrans. But i had no luck with this.

Try to download the latest Driver from Hauppauge so you can atleast get the TV-Card working.

It's now obsolete for me because i will build a standalone TV-Server with an multiroom environment Info

I hope you wil find a solution for this.
Did you play with the varios option in the configuration? MCE/MCE+hauppauge/Haupauge; enabled/disabled.

Do you also get the 0 when you press a key on the remote?

Haven't had time to tinker with it. In MP Config, I only had Hauppauage Remote enabled.

And, yes, I was getting a 0 with a key press on the remote. I did get it to recognize the up arrow (one time only) and then everything else was a 0 afterwards.

Time to get WinTV working to see if the remote works.

Try IRTrans, perhaps it will do the job for you (not for me unfortunately)

If you have Windows Media Center, try there (works for me). Its necessary to complete the installation of the driver and Software without an error.

Hauppauge does a realy bad job at drivers... so i hope you get it working...

+1 on this issue.

I built an htpc for a friend of mine with the exact same TV card from Hauppage and a remote with the receiver directly plugged in the TV card. I tried several possible install options. In some cases resulting in "some" result in Mediaportal, but always with problems remaining like not all buttons working, double click issues, no response issues etc.

I almost gave up on this... Someone has a clue?

Ps: have not tried an irtrans sollution... Will try that in the near future.

Instead of using MediaPortal for remote control, I've had some luck with EventGhost, but I am not really looking at it for a long-term solution (being a newbie at EventGhost configuration). My long term solution is to ditch this remote and get a MCE remote with USB receiver (solving the power on from sleep problem at the same time).

    Hi everyone

I'm not sure that I have a lot to add to this discussion, but I did want to say that my 45 button Hauppauge remote works fine in MediaPortal with the IR receiver plugged into my Nova S Plus. Of course it won't wake the computer from sleep, but I don't need that ability...

From the logs that were posted, cyberlu set the remote up as a default Microsoft MCE remote:

I'm not so sure that the default mappings would work. I'm also not so sure whether the Hauppauge or MCE remotes should be enabled, but I would think it should be set up as an MCE remote, probably with a custom mapping.
