Hauppauge remote conection (1 Viewer)

Hi, im about to receive my hauppauge T500 that comes with a remote.

my question is, can i use that remote in another computer where the T500 is not installed? ive seen u have to conect it to the T500 card but i was wondering if u can use "line in" jack or some trick to make it work in any computer.

it does not make a lot of sense putting the "remote in" in the proper card as if u use the card in a dedicated server then is useless.

I would think so, but you would possibly need another type of receiver, as this is specific to the T500 and pluging it into the soundcard will not make it work.

i understand. well its seems a bit stupid what hauppauge has done but i guess its a way of making sure that people only use their remote with their card.

i will need to see if there are IR receivers sold individually.
