I was interested in that card also till one of the devs said stay away because of the lack of driver support from Dvico...I would love to see one of them chime in on the Happauge 2250. My biggest concern is that mediaportal might not allow simultaneous use of digital and analogue signal. For instance my Avermedia M780 can only use one signal at a time, same with my Asus MyCinema PE-9400 and I assume this true with other hybrid cards, thus stiffling the advantage of the 2250 for a user like myself that views only basic cable and qam. Oh well maybe someone who knows what the hell they are talking about will shine some light on the subject.

It's a dual tuner device. Each tuner can do either ATSC/QAM or analog.
So in TVServer you would either setup 2x hybrid cards or just disable the functionality you don't want to use.

Ok I finally was able to snag a 2250. This card is awesome if all your viewing is thru basic cable and QAM (single input wouuld make it a bitch to use an antenna with, but great if you hate cable splitters). It can use any combination of tuners simultaneously. The picture quality is great for both SD and HD channels in comparison (other cards owned: Avermedia M780, Asus PE-9400 Combo). One thing that I have noticed about QAM and mediaportal is that all QAM channels may not be found. My mother and I have the same cable service which offers several QAM channels. She owns two different LCD TV"s both with QAM tuners built in and she can tune a few QAM channels that I can not. Since I can tune the same channels minus the missing ones with different tuners I'm wondering if those missing channels are based on the tuner that you use or is it the way QAM tunning/scanning works in mediaportal.

Hi, does this mean that you cannot use one tuner with the antenna while using the other one with cable?

    Thanks.

You should be fine, as it is two tuners, so either can be analog or digital, watch one, record other, most peoples mistake is they think they have four individual tuners, wrong.

The card only has one input. You can either hook up cable & get analog/QAM, or hook up an antenna & get ATSC/analog.

You can not hook up cable & antenna. I'm using one for ATSC, & a PVR-500 for cable.

The HVR-2250 on newegg.com shows two coax inputs, is that the same card you have?

    :D

nope that's the FM tuner as seen here
it has only 1 coax input.

I have the card up an running on a new test machine as im waiting for linux drivers. mediaportal is still very new to me so i will be a while beofre i can test this card out.

    the card shows up as
    card 1 hauppauge wintv-7164 bda
    card 2 hauppauge wintv-7164 bda
    card 3 hauppauge wintv-7164 analog
    card 4 hauppauge wintv-7164 analog

i just followed the instructions on hybrid cards and set them up. i'm able to watch TV now with them, but im stilling working on getting them both to record at the same time.
