Hi again Ahhh, I see. So by "cable box" you meant the box outside I guess. This is not a setup that I am familiar with at all. Is it possible that box is a tuning adapter? http://www.timewarnercable.com/Midwest/site.faqs/digitalcab/switcheddi/what-is-a-tuning-adapter In this case MS actually has a *huge* advantage over MP. Being open source, MP allows a lot of things the WMC doesn't necessarily allow (or want to allow)... and if MP doesn't do something, any developer could come along, look at the source code, and implement what they want MP to do. Content owners really don't like this because it means that people could (for example) record as much content as they like, when they like, and transcode it, edit it etc. etc. etc.. Hence the reason for CableCard and encryption in general. CableCard is supported on PCs with special tuners like the Ceton InfiniTV and the HDHomeRun Prime. Those tuners are only fully operational in WMC, simply because WMC supports the required DRM. MP doesn't support DRM. So in that sense, Microsoft wins... In your case I'm not sure whether DRM applies as I'm not familiar with the cable setup that you have. Do you know anything more about it? mm
