Hi

I have the Asus Motherboard with Geforce 800 series onboard video with HDMI .

I have set my desktop resolution to 1080p. All is okay except when I play DIVx movies through Media Portal the quality seems bad..I have tried changing the aspect ratio etc but still seems washed out blocky

The same happens on XBMC but windows medial player 11 is fine!?

Can anyone advise? Any settings I need to change?

Thanks

You might wanna check out this link to improve your xvid quality by postprocessing.
For resize & aspect you take 1.5 or 2 times (what ever your CPU can handle) your screens native resolution.

Thanks for the replies...perhaps I didnt describe the problem properly. it is similar to when you watch a youtube video in full screen, the quality suffers when you watch in full scrren. Its like this when viewing divx movies in media portal and xbmc.

When I watch the DIVx movies in media player 11 and select full screen the quality doesnt suffer as much as MP and XBMC .

I thought originally it was because my desktop settings is in 1080 resolution, but bearing in mind that media player 11 plays okay , I've ruled out that possibilty

    Thanks for you replies people

I tried the things you people suggested, and some worked, so thanks.

But the problem is that my framerate drops miles when I turn on either Blur or Sharpen. Resize goes well though. What can this be?

Do you have graphedit? To check which decoder is used when you play a divx? Sometimes MP takes another decoder then you want it to use. If you still have MPV decoder and MPA decoder, these are probably used in stead of ffdshow and AC3filter. Use radlight to Unregister these decoders.

MPV cannot be used by accident for divx (or anything else than MPEG2) as it is not supporthing those formats and wont connect in the directshow graph.

I just found out I only have this problem when using MP's internal player, not when I'm using Media Player Classic as an external player. Maybe somebody knows what causes this and how to fix it?
