I've got my finger on the button, I'm ready to buy an HD card that integrates well into MP. I have a nice machine and a DB2 antenna ready to play with. Primarily this will be for recording HD streams and played back within MP, and possibly converted to Xvid. No SD recordings, no remote needed. I just need something that works well, timeshifting is not a biggie.

The contenders:

Vbox DTA 150 - $130
Dvico FusionHDTV5 Lite - $89
AVerMedia MCE A180 - $80

In simple terms, what advantages would one card have over the other?

That seems expensive for the DTA-150.

I have all the cards you list. The a180 is a piece of crap, althought he drivers are decent. The tuner doesn't lock weak or multiplathed signals well at all.

The Fusion 5 Lite works great so long as you don't install anything but the drivers (i.e. no DVICO Apps).

The Vbox DTA-150 is great. The drivers are small and clean. You should be able to pick it up for 89 bucks at pcalchemy. http://www.pcalchemy.com/product_in...estrial-hdtv-receiver-pci/manufacturers_id/64

Be advised that you won't be picking up QAM (i.e. cable HD)in MP (or any other software besides DVico's bundled stuff) with any cards. So I hope you are only interested in OTA.

Thanks, yes I was leaning toward the Vbox card. This will be strictly for OTA recordings. I'd get another card later if/when they work out the QAM situation.
