Hi all,

I'm building my first HTPC and im trying to figure out what I need for a TV tuner.

I live in Canada and I want a PC Tuner that will let me watch digital cable on my PC. I checked out the digital everywhere site but it doesn't look like they ship to Canada. Can anybody give me a detailed run down of what I will need in terms of a TV Tuner (PCI or PCIe) and where to get it.

Also, do CAM modules come from the cable provider? Or do I need to buy one of those with the TV tuner?

If somebody can point me to some good introductory info on this stuff I would appreciate it.

Cheers

None of the North American providers allow PC use of a CAM. A CI DVB card in Europe is sometimes allowed depending on the provider's policies but in Canada you're SOL for LEGAL satellite. However, if you're in TO or somewhere closer to the US border, you may be able to use an ATSC tuner card to pickup US OTA channels.
