Hello all!

I've spent most of this week trying to get my HD Homerun Prime to play nicely with MediaPortal. I finally got the channels to scan and load properly in the channel list, but now when I go to preview them I get an "Unknown Error". When trying to load the channel in the MediaPortal client, it freezes for a moment, and then says "An unknown error has occurred." Testing the channels gives me an error on all of them as well. I have tried repairing the SQL database, as well as a million other fixes in the forums. I wasn't sure which log to post here, but let me know if you need a different log. The channels play fine in HD Homerun Prime quickview, and on my PS3.

    Hello and welcome Krieger :)

I've spent most of this week...
Oh man! Please - don't hesitate to ask for help if it is taking you more than 5 minutes to get something working. We're here to help. :)

First question, as per these two threads from the last two weeks:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/mediaportal-1-5-and-hdhomerun-prime.122980/
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/all-cards-are-busy.123331/

Have you installed the latest beta firmware? You need at least 20130708beta1.
    http://www.silicondust.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?t=2484

If you have, please could you:
    1. Set TV Server log level to debug:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_.../TV-Server_Configuration/06_General#Log_Level

    2. Restart the TV service (you can do this in the manual control section of TV Server configuration).
    3. Use the MediaPortal watchdog/debug tool to grab log files:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/16_Support/3_Forums/2_Log_Files

Please follow the instructions for reproducible problems. When you get to the bit about reproducing the problem, simply try to tune a few channels. When you're done, close MediaPortal and post/attach the zip file created by the debug tool.

PS: please ask if any of the above doesn't make sense - I'd be happy to expand :)

Thank you SO much! I know a lot of forums are picky about people asking for help before they have exhausted everything so I just wanted to make sure I really couldn't figure it out. After a few hours of pulling my hair out I found out that I needed to tell Verizon to "validate" my CableCard instead of "activate" it. After an hour of troubleshooting with them on the phone she finally said "Oh you should have just said you needed me to validate the card!" lol...then I couldn't get the channels to scan, turned out it was a simple firewall issue with Windows Firewall.

In regards to your post- the link download had 20131212beta firmware at the top- so I downloaded that one instead. I feel kind of silly because everything seems to be working now. I didn't think using the beta firmware would work, but that seems to have done the trick.

I have noticed the quality seems just a hair fuzzier than when watching through HD HomeRun QuickTV- any thoughts? It seems like the resolution is slightly off, mostly the edges look a little more jagged. It isn't the bad, just not quite as sharp at the QuickTV app.

Also- while I have your ear- I can't seem to get the channel and program information to display. I have found a ton of threads on EPG setup, but I am not sure which one is the best for my current setup. I saw the one at this link: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...d-homerun-epg-setup-success.77732/#post578052 -but wasn't sure if it would work since my setup is slightly different.

Let me know if you would still like me to post the logs as you asked. I held back since the original problem seems to be solved now. Thanks again for all of your help!!!

    Hello again Krieger

Thanks for sharing your setup experience. Hopefully other people will also benefit from this info. :)

Hmmmm. Maybe you haven't got deinterlacing working. I recommend you have a look at this guide:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/guide-perfect-playback-display-calibration.119610/

It should help you to get everything as perfect as it can be. :)

Also- while I have your ear- I can't seem to get the channel and program information to display. I have found a ton of threads on EPG setup, but I am not sure which one is the best for my current setup. Yeah, the forum has a lot of information. We try to condense the most relevant and up to date info into our wiki. For EPG setup guides, have a look here:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/13_Setup_Guides/2_TV_Setup/4_TV_Guide_Setup_(EPG)

The info in step 7 and 8 in the thread you linked looks reasonably correct. The equivalent guide in our wiki is:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_..._TV_Setup/4_TV_Guide_Setup_(EPG)/XMLTV_mc2xml

Basically, there are currently two options for US and Canada EPG. SchedulesDirect plugin or some flavour of XMLTV.
If you've used other HTPC software in the past, you may already have a SchedulesDirect subscription. In that case, you can use the SchedulesDirect plugin to get EPG data sorted quite quickly. Install the plugin using the MediaPortal Extension Installer (link on your desktop or in the Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal folder in your start menu), then follow the guide:
    http://code.google.com/p/mp-schedulesdirect/wiki/GeneralConfigWiki

Setting up SchedulesDirect is probably also the easier option for people who are new to HTPCs. The thing is that it costs $20 per year for the data. If that puts you off, you can try the XMLTV options.

XMLTV is a standard EPG file format used by lots of HTPC software. You'd be looking for a way to download or generate an XMLTV file which can be imported with the TV Server XMLTV plugin. mc2xml is one way - it can grab data from TitanTV, Microsoft or SchedulesDirect. WebGrab+ is another way. Many folks who use MediaPortal also use mc2xml, so I think you probably can't go too far wrong with that option.

Let me know if you would still like me to post the logs as you asked. I held back since the original problem seems to be solved now.
If the original problems seem to be solved then I'd say no need to post logs. :)

Thanks again for all of your help!!!
My pleasure - any time. :)
