Ive been trying to get my HTPC running mediaportal to play HD content but any scene with heavy motion will cause the video and sound to stutter. The same HD content will play without problems in either WMP or VLC, and when I checked the CPU/Memory usage neither was really being stressed at all.

This is all using fddshow.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you using FFDSHOW from the SAF v5 codec pack? There is a lot about how to fix stuttering in that forum: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...xperimental-based-ffdshow-dxva-decoder-77591/

There are any number of things that may be the problem. Suggest you look through that thread, but it is getting pretty long. Maybe search "stutter" and such.

First, please fill in your system specifications. This is a great help for anyone assisting you in troubleshooting. (Click "User CP" above to go to your profile.)

Thanks for the help so far. I found some free time this weekend and managed to play with it some more and changed my drivers to the SAF (newest build) updated several other things and now have determined that EVR is the problem.

With it enabled all videos play, but 1080 stutters with heavy motion. If I disable EVR the 1080 videos that do play, play flawlessly but nearly all HD videos will not play at all, exiting with a generic error and giving the codec information.

Im going to keep poking around and hopefully find something. :D

    Yes Aero is enabled.

I can play all the media flawlessly in GraphStudio so I think the codecs and system can play them.

Yes, Aero is enabled and everything plays fine in Graphstudio.

Run MediaPortal in windowed mode, play video/tv that stutters, run GraphStudio and connect to the stream. Then take a screenshot to show which codecs are in use, post here :)
