First question... Is there any issues that I should be aware of using the HDHomerun prime and MP 1.6? I noted the thread HDHomerun Prime & MediaPortal 1.5. It appears that the last comment on that thread was posted on 1/8. The gist of it was that the individual was having problems getting TVServer to see the tuners. I didn't see a resolution or finale in my skim of the thread. I'm asking because I'm about to purchase and want to verify that I have a good shot at success with the tuner before I buy. I can't afford many more technical snafu's or reliability issues and survive with a WAF still intact.

Secondly, I was curious on how folks are implementing a network tuner in their MP server/client paradigm. Does one still server Live TV to their respective client PC's from the server machine or does one install a single seat setup on each client (with TVServer etc.) and connect to the network tuner directly? Guessing here, but in the later case you would do Live TV buffering locally, but could set recorded TV to either reside on the server machine or the local client machine. So in general, what's the best route for utilizing a networkable tuner in the multi-client setup?

    Hello again T^2

    As mentioned in our wiki:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/11_Preparing_Your_System/01_Supported_TV_Cards

...you must install firmware >= 20130708 beta 1. Currently that means installing the latest beta firmware.

There is currently no resolution. Status is that TV Server will see the tuners... but it will take up to 10 minutes for them to be detected. If you never turn your server off and never restart TV Server it will not affect you.
I note this is not a problem specific to the PRIME. It is a general issue with detection of networked CableCARD tuners (ie. the PRIME and Ceton ETH 6). It seems very much to depend on the network environment - VPN, IPv6, other server applications etc. etc. etc..

I'd recommend having one server. That way all your recording schedules are in one place and you're not going to have confusion like: "did I set that programme up to record" or "where did that programme get recorded to".

That's not good. Sooner or later she's going to reboot the computer and then all hell is going to break loose. Is this occurring in every case with MP and the HDHomerun Prime or it is just some cases?

But it is a problem specific to MP's TVServer? Other solutions like NextPVR, WMC, etc. don't have this issue I presume. Would that be a correct presumption?

Note: I purchased the HDHomerun Prime about 15 minutes before you posted this... Perhaps I'm committed.

No, definitely not every case. Just some.

As far as I know it is specific to MP, yes... but the nature of the cause seems to be network related, therefore other software might be affected. I don't know for sure.

As far as I'm concerned the PRIME works with MP in most cases and the thread you pointed to is an exception to the rule. Even if you have problems, other software is available... and even if that other software has problems, the folks from Silicondust and MP would help you out. :)

I guess there is still on lingering question... What about performance? Would channel switching etc. be faster if each machine - with it's own installation of TVServer - was connected to the tuner directly? I ask because I know this is one area that will have a negative impact on the WAF.

Good question. Yes, probably it would... but I can't put numbers on it. People differ in their tolerance for channel change times, so this is something I think you'll have to try yourself.

T^2, just in case your PRIME has arrived and you're trying it out this weekend... :)

I'm hoping this patch will resolve the issue in the thread that you spotted.

Comcast tech is coming by today to install the CableCard. I wait until I have everything installed before doing the patch so that I can do a before and after comparison.

About the Comcast tech... I'll be interested to see why it's necessary (Comcast doesn't give you any option) for a tech to come out to do the install.
