Hello,

I have MP 1.0 RC2 + latest SVN installed.

I've created a TVGuide.xml file for Israel including Hebrew character descriptions (using MegaEPG). The TVGuide.xml seems OK (looking to it in Notepad or IE one can read the Hebrew characters/sentences). The file is encoded in UTF-8.

The problem is that in the MP application the TV Guide shows all the programs in "gibberish" characters (all is ??? chars). Does MP not understand UTF-8 encoding? Is there a way to fix things to see proper Hebrew?

Attached are my TVGuide.xml and a screenshot of MP TV Guide screen.

Thanks in advance,

    Thank you for your reply.

I did try to change he_IL to he in the TVGuide.xml but it didn't help :(. Still the Xmltv plugin is inserting the Hebrew letters into the database as ???? . So naturally I am getting the ???? signs in my EPG in the MP screen.

I've attached the TVGuide.xml and a screenshot of my SQL table view.

Are you running 1.0 RC2 ? Can you see EPG data correctly?

    Your help is very appeciated.

Unfortunatly, you are right. Seems there is no unicode support in TvServer.
Untill now I was using an older version with MP's internal TV plugin, and had no such problems.

I have great news for you!
Use MySQL instead of Microsft SQL, and everything will be fine!

Thanks for your update. I was very upset of what you've wrote about the no unicode support and didn't know what to do.

MySQL news is very promising. I'll give it a try tomorrow and post my findings.

Hope the developers are reading these posts.
