This is my first post in the Media Portal forum, and I have to say, this is a sweet project!! I figured I'd say hi since I've been toying with this program all day.

I have a MAME cab, but I'm using hand-me-down hardware and I can't keep it running. So, until I can afford a new rig, I set my primary PC between the TV and the MAME cab, and I'm making it a combo Media Center/MAME Cab/Gaming PC. So far it's working great, aside from the occasional unexpected error. :(

If anyone cares, I work as a software tester and might be able to help out a little. I'm still a noob to Media Portal (playing with emulator plugins rite now, too many options!!) but I'm getting there.

You say it's a "sweet project"? I agree, but lets add "addictive" as well!! Time consuming, but hey, who's complaining?

    Welcome here.

    Hi NixZero

Glad your having fun tinkering, yes MP's pretty configurable but also easy to break :( so always make sure whatever you have done is working fine after the tinkering , as i do it all the time LOL.

Nice to have you onboard :)

I have 2 words to add

    Ghost images :D

I get a piece of MP working then create a ghost image. I then tinker and play till i break something - once i get to this stage I revert back to the ghost image (takes about 10 mins) and then install the bits that i found worked well. test again and if all is good create another ghost image. Its saved me hours installing xp etc

Also if you have any good tips, links or guides for setting up mame i would be interested to hear about it. I really want to get space invaders on my HTPC but havent really figured out the mame stuff yet.
