    Hello friendly helpers :D
I only have an analog tv card at this time and am just trying to get MediaPortal to work as a TV-PVR in anticipation of acquiring a over the air digital tuner for my pc in a few weeks.
    In the installation process:
I answer 'Yes' to the question 'do I want to watch TV?'
Do I need to answer 'No' to the question 'Will I watch HD content' ? (since I have no HD tuners or content)

    Next question:
The quick set up guide says to skip step 2 (scan for tv channels etc) If I am not going to use HDTV.
So, If I skip the channel scan - How do I select or set-up analog TV channels?
I tried manual setup of one channel and mapped it to my card - but get no signal. Tried channel scan (even though I says not needed) and I find no channels.
Is that because channel scan is for HDTV OTA channels only?

I have not been able to see a tv picture after 3 days of trying to install MediaPortal.
The card worked fine with installed drivers using MS MovieMaker in video capture mode before I installed MediaPortal and after I uninstall MediaPortal

Is it possible my card is really not supported (see above)

I downloaded revision 1.0.0 to install but do I need an update? (one of the RC? thingies).

Any suggestions of what to do or where to look would be appreciated.

And YES... I installed the dvbfix.

I will reinstall MediaPortal and attach all the logs etc if my situation is not resolved by a simple suggestion for me to accomplish some silly thing I missed in the setup, manuals, searches in forums etc.
Just request the logs and I will attach.

    Dennis

    Thanks for the reply
Yes it has hardwared decoding and..
Since I posted this, I reloaded drivers for the tv card, uninstalled and reinstalled MediaPortal for the 5th time and ... all of a sudden the channel scan worked and I am one more step toward getting this up. Unfortunately I do not know if I answered Yes to the question 'will you watch HD content' to get it working or working was just a fluke?

At this point I am getting lots of crashes and freezes. I guess I will keep trying things and see if I can get this to work.

Do most people have this many problems?
If answer is yes then - OK it is open source and in development and I understand.
If answer is no then I sure would like to find out what I am doing wrong.
