help me with movie databse please (1 Viewer)

pardon my bad english but i'm from sweden

I really love the media portal, jusst have to say you guys have made a great job with it.

I jusst have a question. Can I add movie files to the database without having it be searched woth imdb if you know what i mean. It it so slow and I have so much video files, it will take forever. I dont need info abous them and things like that. I'm satisfied with jusst the file name and browsing the folders.

So can I speed upp the database update thing by disabling imdb search?

Hi,

adding movies to DB means using IMDB (which really could be implemented somewhat better). You may add the movies manually in Setup->Movies->Database.

If you are satisfied with filename and directory browsing, just do not do a scan! MP uses normally the browsing mode, so no scanning is needed. You do not need to use the database!

but when you add manually you can only add one file at the time right? Not whole folders or a bunch of movies?

Hi,

again, no need to add them to the database!

Just add your root movie directory as "Share". Setup->Movies->Shares
Eg. C:\movies\ as "Movies". Then you can browse this directory and its subdirectories.
