Help MP configuration (1 Viewer)

Dear All,

It's first time on MP and I have some questions.

1 - I have installed MP server on a desktop and I want to watch a video (avi file) across the network with my laptop, which software must be installed on my laptop?

2 - How to configure the server and the client to broadcast the video?

3 - For the moment on the MP desktop server there is no TV card, I need a card for EPG/XMLTV?

4 - There no tvguide.xml and no xmltv.dtd on the directory Team Mediaportal\MediaPortal\xmltv. where I can find these files? And how to configure the TV Epg?

You mean the TV Server? There is no MP Server, the client needs mediaportal and just add the network drive as a video folder.

Pretty much same answer as above

If your not running a tv card then whats the point of a guide?

Thank you for your reply.

I don't known all possibilities offer by MP.

MP by the network without MP server works but I don't understand the function of MP server?

MP server is only required for works with a TV card and to share TV on the network?

There are possibility to connect a TV across a box (which box can offer this functionality?) to have remote connection to the MP server?

MP server offrer a possibility for VOD? Which application/plugin for vod?

The MP TV server is for live TV only, you would have a main server which would have all of your videos and your tv tuners and then each client can connect to the server to get live TV streamed to it.

MP TV SERVER
- Can stream live TV to the MP CLIENT
- Can be told by MP CLIENT to record TV programs.
- Can automatically wake up and go to sleep to record TV
- Can store a database of recorded live TV
- Can stream previously recorded live TV to the MP CLIENT

MP CLIENT
- Does everything else, play movies, play live TV (with the help of tv server), play music, etc
- Can be installed on same computer as TV SERVER or installed on another computer
- It can play media on local drives or shared network drives

So if you don't have a TV card then don't install "mp tv server" component.
There is no such thing as a "mediaportal server", there is only MP CLIENT and MP TV SERVER
