Hey guys! :) It's been quite a while since I was around here. Unfortunately I stopped using MediaPortal for a while (Did not use anything else, just didn't find it a necessity anymore). Regardless, I'm back to wanting to set it up and everything runs fine, as it did before except the TV portion.

I've recently upgraded from Analogue Cable to Digital Cable and for the life of me I just can't figure out how to get MP to recognize this. I'll give you 2 examples of what I have done and let you know what the results were:

I ran RCA cables from the digital box (Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3200) to the PVR-150 which of course shows the same thing on both the TV and the computer. This is an "ok" solution but not what I want ultimately.

I've also plugged the coax that normally goes from the settop box to the TV, from the settop box to the PVR-150 and that yielded even worse results. Basically I had to set MP on a specific channel and then leave it there, while using the digital box remote to change channels etc. I could then of course run RCA from my 6200 to the TV but again, that's over complicated.

Here's what I'd like to do, and I really hope someone can point me in the right direction and or offer a better setup.

I'd like to be able to use MP entirely for watching TV/Recording etc. I'd like the Channel Guide to come up in MP with the correct information and channel listings. All in Digital of course. I have done repeated search here and on Google for Rogers specific setups with PVR-150's or even just MP but I can't for the life of me find anything of use.

I've also notice something about a TV-Server3. I do not have it nor do I have any idea what that's about ;)

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Even if you aren't with Rogers but have the same settop box I'd like to hear about how you've set it up. Also, MP appears to only want to scan for Analogue channels and doesn't offer any digital cable type of settings if that's what I have.

TIA!

Well the PVR-150 is an Analogue capture card, which is why MP assumes you will be looking for an Analogue signal from it. Since you now have a digital signal, you'll need to get a digital tv tuner capture card.

Unfortunately this is the only way to do it. What I've done with my setup is used the MCE remote's blaster functionality to control the digital box, so when i change the channel in mediaportal, its not actually changing the channel on the tuner in the htpc, but its sending a command out to the blaster to change the channel on the digital box.

There are no digital tuner cards you can use with digital cable since here in North America, the cable providers send out non-standardized signals on their cable infrastructure - unlike those lucky ones in other parts of the world who can use their DVB cards to tune into standardized digital broadcasts! :D

Can you explain how you have done this? I have been using Windows Media Centre 2005 RU 2 for the last few months but due to insane Canadian cable companies copy writing every second show I am looking for alternatives. I have my MP working fine but unable to change channels at the moment. WMC2005 is able to change the channel using the blaster but I am not sure how to set this up in MediaPortal, in WMC it is all behind the scenes. Been reading a few things but I am unable to find some solid documentation. Tried the myblaster and mce replacement. Both with extremely random results.

Thanks in advance. I would love to get MP working and I already have it 90% of the way there.

And how did you do this?

I've got the MCE remote and IR blaster. how do you set this thing up in MP?
