hi all,

i am new to using this fantastic program, but i have come across a few problems..

1.my epg does not work, by this i mean that although i get an epg, the times for the programs are incorrect and not working..i live in britain..gmt..but everything seems to be a few hous behind or ahead..

2.i cant seem to minimize the program..anyway to do this..if i want to record a program but check my email or surf the web, can i minimize it somehow??

3.i cant close ths program unless i switch off the "tv" or mediaportal will refuse closing?and remain open?and freeze?any fixes?

4.how do i stop the automatic recording..it seems to record any program that i watch by itself without my permission..how do i disable this?

any help will be appreciated, pls label your answer with a number (1,2,3,4) infront, so i am not confused with what problem you are gratefully helping me with..

thx..

As one who has only recently got MP working after a few teething troubles, I may be able to help a bit.

1) I found that downloading EPG data from DVB-T populates the guide quickly but DVB-S takes ages - I left the server running overnight and when I went back to it, it had filled in all the gaps. I also use XMLTV for channels where there is no transmitted data for a channel but that's a bit more complicated to set up.

Regarding programme times, using the live EPG data should be correct. If you're using XMLTV check the settings in the TV Server Config program as there is one that applies time compensation (Plugins / XMLTV).

2) Yes, odd that, isn't it. However, remember that any recording is being done by the TV Server so you can safely close MP and the recording will continue.

3) No idea, I can close the program regardless of what it's doing.

4) What you're talking about is 'timeshifting' which is what allows you to pause and rewind live TV. I've a feeling I saw something in the Wiki about turning it off but it hardly uses any resources and does allow pause and rewind so it's quite handy. There's a timeshift section in TV Server Config so I guess setting everything to zero will stop it.

My first attempts were full of problems but an uninstall and reinstall cured most of them so perhaps try that to get around your shutdown issue.
