Help recognizing ATI 650 PCI (1 Viewer)

I'm sick and tired of the Catalyst Media Center bundled with the ATI 650 PCI and want to try Media Portal. I see posts here from over a year indicating folks have it working with the ATI 650 PCI tuner card but I can't seem to get it to recognize the card even exists. When I click "Add Card" under the TV area, the hard drive cranks away while I patiently wait and then the configuration screen simply goes off the screen. When I go back in, still no capture cards listed. How are folks able to get this card recognized? When I ran a trial of Beyond TV, it had no problem recognizing the card & tuning in the channels. What's the trick with Media Portal?

FYI...followup....I completely uninstalled all ATI software/drivers & re-installed. For whatever reason, that did the trick & the card was now recognized by Media Portal. Picture quality appears good - must be careful resizing; freezing. Mediaportal did not pick up the HD channels over cable. Setting up EPG appears to be a pain; can't just enter a zip code & get the data. If it's constant work, the program is a waste and it will be worth paying for Beyond TV or Sage TV. I'll try for another week & decide.

I'm using Windows XP PRO SP2 and just installed an MSI Theater 650 PRO (PCIe), but MP is unable to recognize the card :-(

The bundled software works with it fine, but it is trash. I tried the solution posted above but to no avail.

Please someone help.
