To more fully explain I'm based in the UK and have a Virgin Media STB. The model is Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4200DVB and I know this has 2 problems, that it uses IRDA and that it requires 3 codes for every key press (see Redeye FAQs). Plowing ahead I went and bought the RedEye Translator and this works perfectly within MediaCentre using the MCE remote. I simply followed the RedEye setup instructions and MediaCentre now has no problems changing the channel. However like most people here I want to use MediaPortal because I want its extra features and flexibility. However this is where I have hit a brick wall. Initially I assumed that if MediaCentre using the MCE Blaster could change the channel simply enabling it in MediaPortal would do the trick. In desperation I went out and bought the Redeye serial as well, and I have round that using the Redeyedemo.exe I have no problems changing the channel, but again with Redeye enabled in MediaPortal it does not work. I then moved to trying the MCE Replacement Plugin but a mix of my own ineptitude and possibly the IRDA issue means I'm still stuck. Getting MediaPortal to change the channel on my STB using the MCE Remote is the very last step in me achieving HTPC perfection (ish!), and what's more galling is I think others have managed it (see https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-support-51/serial-red-eye-pace-stbs-11491/) so I'm sure it's just me :ooops: . But I'm flailing like a fish out of water so would be really grateful if someone could help me on this. Many thanks
