Hello! I was hoping I could get some input on buying a UPS. I have been reading around to try and get a good estimate on what I will need, but I'm still not sure exactly what I should get.
I am wanting to power my server with it, which has the following setup:
750 watt Corsair Power Supply
Asus A8N-SLI Mobo
AMD Athlon 64 3200 Processor
2GB Memory
PCI Video Card(Mobo doesn't have built in video and I wanted something very low voltage)
8 1TB Hard drives in a Raid 5 configuration
8 Port SATA RAID controller
1 74GB Raptor Drive
2 DVD drives
5 or 6 120mm Case Fans
I am not real worried about the UPS powering it for a long time. I mainly want to provide surge/power/conditioning protection for my machine, and hopefully allow it enough time to power down safely. I would actually prefer a UPS that would run until it was about to run out of battery power and THEN shut the PC down, but idk if that is a feature you can get or not.
Using a power estimating tool it guessed my setup would use around 500 watts, so I was thinking i needed like a 900ish VA UPS. I know pretty much nothing about these things, all I know about them is what I have read, which is only worth as much as how I interpreted it!
Any input would be appreciated
