Help with reinstall please. (1 Viewer)

Hi,
I am thinking to reinstall me HTPC soon and I have been running happily with mepo 1.2 up to 1.5 without too much issue.
And am thinking of going up to 1.6. But with the changes to the new .net framworks and database engines, im a little concerned the length of time its going to take to do will be painful.
My movies I am not worried about, as I do all of those via exported nfo files etc.. So It wouldnt be too bad.
the issue is the TV shows, As far as I have ever found, there is no way to do that sort of re-import in mp-tvseries.
I know in the past I have just backed up the plugins thumbs and database directories and just put them back after a clean install.
However, I dont know if that will work with the new changes.
basically, can I just copy back thumbs and mp-tvseries database files, from a 1.5 release into the same locations of a 1.6 clean install? or are the database files incompatible?

Well, 40+ views but no replies.. So just in case anyone else wants to know the outcome.
All is well. As I had hoped. You can just copy back any database files from old installs into a new one without any apparent issues.

Not understanding sql code and databases, I still can't say if the changes implemented mean the 1.6 release is functioning fully, or if its running in some kind of automatic backwards support for old db files. That's why I had hoped a developer would find my post and maybe shed some light on the issue.

Hi

To simplify - TV side uses SQL connection to 'external' DB service. As far as I know, ALL other plugins [native or installed] use DB files not SQL based connection.

So, in Client, you have database subdir, in there you have your DB's for Movies, MovingPictures, MPTVSeries.

On upgrade 'standard' , these are untouched, if you do a full 'clean up' before new install, you loose them unless you back them up [actually, you will want the DB files AND the thumbs dir, as this is where all the download images are].

Then on a new, clean install, install MP, then the plugins you want THEN put DB files & thumbs back, when you restart MePo, your plugins have all the correct DB's, so you have access to the media.
